Katerina / Motherhood & Autism
Katerina saw her life change drastically when her son, Evangelos, was diagnosed with autism shortly after his 18th month. A child who had been developing normally as an infant showed sudden changes in communication and behavior just days after a vaccination — a timing coincidence that has deeply concerned her ever since. From that moment began a daily, exhausting struggle. Despite the lack of support from the state and the absence of structures for parents of children with disabilities, Katerina persevered. She left behind her career in the arts and aesthetics to be there for her son. And Evangelos, with slow but steady steps, began to speak, communicate, and participate. Today, Evangelos speaks in full sentences, practices sports, and continues to progress — while Katerina keeps fighting, with faith, to secure a better future for him.
