Andriela / Burn Survivor
A burn is one of the most painful injuries that can happen to a person. People who have suffered severe burns face a long, months-long rehabilitation process to regain basic bodily functions, adjust to their changed appearance, and live confidently and independently. Emotional and mental scars require understanding in the long process of healing. According to the World Health Organization burns are responsible for 10 million disabilities worldwide each year and are the second leading cause of childhood injuries. Most burn accidents happen inside our homes and especially involve children and the elderly. Every year in Greece we have 25,000 urban fires which translates into the death of one person every five days.
