Maria / Phd Musicologist
Maria, now 57, was born prematurely and faced the challenges of limited vision from an early age, eventually losing her sight completely at 16. As a child, he attended regular school while simultaneously learning Braille, English, French and music. After studying linguistics at the University of Athens he was forced to move to America as he faced discrimination in Greece, who was denied a singing diploma simply because of her visual impairment. There he earned a master’s degree in singing and a doctorate in historical musicology from Boston University.
